Dried Carthamus Natural Green, Bunch
With its thistle-like structure, Carthamus, or Bidens as it is sometimes known, is available in natural green or natural orange colours. Carthamus tinctorius is sometimes referred to as false saffron or Safflower. Safflower is one of humanity’s oldest crops. Ancient textiles have even been identified as being dyed using safflower. The other really amazing fact is that flower garlands made from safflowers were found in the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun!
Today this flower is commercially grown for its oil and the flowers are still used to create natural dyes. However, our crop is grown and dried in Holland and is an extremely popular flower within dried flower arrangements.
Useful Information:
Stems within the bunch are up to60cm in length
The stems can be slightly prickly so take care when handling them
